Brenda Ganz in Oakland on Nov. 1, 2006 at age 67. Beloved wife for 45 years of Jerry Ganz; loving mother of Lori Ganz (Peter Wolff), Steven Ganz (Judy Tick) and Andrea Ganz (Kerry Woodward). Dear grandmother of Jacob, Logan, Eli, Corey, Taylor and Alex; loving sister of Jerry (Madge) Rosen, Dorothy (Tom) Cook and Charles (Judy) Rosen; sister-in-law of Ronny Ganz and Rosalyn Smoller; dear aunt and cousin.

Lewis Kopel, 91, died on October 25. He is mourned by his four children, Joel Kopel (Avi Ray), Jonathan Kopel, Dale Kopel (Greg Foudy), David Kopel (Karen Dubin), six grandchildren, his sister, Eleanor Jenny, and his wife, Barbara Scodel.

Barbara’s four children and grandchildren also grieve for an extraordinarily loving, perceptive, wise and witty man.

Charles J. Lewin in San Francisco on Nov. 11, 2006 at age 90. Born in Lithuania, he emigrated to Palestine at the age of 20. He fought and was wounded in the 1948 Israeli War of Independence. In 1963 he emigrated to San Francisco with his family and started his plumbing contractor business.  An active member of and past board president of Congregation Chevra Thilim. He was always ready to help other people in the community whenever called upon. Beloved husband of the late Jenny Lewin; loved father of John Lewin and David (& Joan Moskowitz) Lewin; devoted grandfather of Noa Sarah and Elijah Nathaniel Lewin. 

Graveside services were held at Eternal Home Cemetery, Colma. Contributions to the American Heart Assoc. preferred.

Paul Richards in San Francisco on Nov. 7, 2006 at age 92. Beloved husband of Hilda for 58 years; loving brother of the late Theo Richheimer of Portugal; dear uncle, great uncle, cousin and very dear friend of many. Longtime active member of Congregation Beth Sholom. Funeral services were held at Sinai Memorial Chapel, 1501 Divisadero St., Geary Blvd, SF. Contributions to the charity of your choice preferred. 

Leon Sloss, a resident of Chevy Chase, Maryland and a native of San Francisco, passed away on November 1 at age 80. He is survived by Virginia Green Sloss, his wife of 52 years, his four children, Deborah Sloss, David (Heidi) Sloss, Michael (Barbara) Sloss, and Laura Sloss (Peter) Lowet, sister Nancy Louise Sloss and brother Peter F. Sloss. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren. Memorial services will be held in Washington, D.C., interment private. Contributions may be made to Arena Stage (Washington, D.C.) Stanford University for Stanford in Washington, or the charity of your choice.

Edith Wertheimer in San Mateo on November 11, 2006 at age 94. Beloved mother of Steffi (and the late Ronald) Zimmerman and Peter (and Barbara) Wertheimer.  Loving grandmother of Stephen Zimmerman, Sharon Zimmerman, Sandra (and Bill) Mouat, Pamela (and Tom) Koppel, Robin (and Keith) Goldberg, and Kara (and Eliot) Alfi.  Dear great-grandmother of Suzanne Bullock, Shannali, Hayley, Rory, and Wendy Mouat, David, Joshua and Rebecca Koppel, Jeremy and Matthew Goldberg, Zachary and Elyssa Alfi, and great-great-grandmother of LaRon Bullock.

Private family services will be held with interment at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma.The family requests that any donations in her memory be made to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. or to the favorite charity of your choice.
