Albert Yousef Hassid. In San Francisco on April 15, 2207 at age 86.  Beloved husband of Beverlee;  father of Philip (& Kula) Hassid;  loving stepfather of  Eric (& Jennifer Dash)  Goldbrener;  adoring grandfather of Samara and Emma;  dear brother of Sami Hassid, Lili Schual, Huguette Machbitz and the late Dr. Eli Hassid and Victor Hassid;  loved brother-in-law of Juliette and Suzette Hassid, Oscar Machbitz, Alan (& Linda) Schwartz and the late Freddy Schual and Reine Hassid; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews;  son-in-law of Harold Schwartz.

Past President of Cong. Ner Tamid, served on the Board of Directors of the American Jewish Committee, member of the Economic Roundtable, the Commonwealth Club,  Knights Of The Vine and an active participant in the Downtown Torah Study class. Before immigrating to San Francisco,  Albert resided in Sydney, Australia for 25 years where he designed and built the Sephardic Synagogue of Sydney and served as President of the synagogue’s Board of Directors.

 Funeral services were held at Cong. Ner Tamid, 1250 Quintera St., SF with interment at Salem Memorial Park, Colma.  Contributions to Cong. Ner Tamid, 1250 Quintera  St., SF,CA 94116 preferred.  Arrangements made by Sinai Memorial Chapel.

Harold B. Kane.With great sorrow his family mourns the death of Harold B. Kane, a remarkable person who enriched the lives of his family, friends and clients. Harold died on March 26, 2007 at age 90.

A graduate of City College of New York, Harold began his almost 70 year professional career in accounting. He served as Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his service he came to California where he married his beloved wife Elayne. Harold practiced his accounting profession with his father-in-law, Arthur Lichtman and then with his son, Gary Kane. He was a life member of the California and New York CPA Societies and actively practiced until his passing.

He is survived by his loving family: Elayne, his wife of 58 years; three children, Bob (Marla), Gary (Cynthia), and Karen (Israel); and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 22nd at 2:30 p.m. at Peninsula Temple Beth El in San Mateo where Harold and Elayne have been active members for over 50 years.

Royston J. (Roy) Lee in Atherton, CA, April 12, 2007. Beloved husband of Klara Lee for 54 years. Loving father of Denise Torgerson (Paul), Anita Lee (Matthew Polsky) and David Lee (Beth). Devoted grandfather of Danielle and Joshua Lee and Lilian Polsky. Dear brother of Zara Jaffe (Joshua) and Jack Liebler. Owner of Ice Machines, Inc. of San Francisco for over 50 years. Hella Margolin, born Goldberg in 1922, and a former native of Frankfurt, Germany, died peacefully on April 4 in Santa Rosa surrounded by her four daughters. She met and married Oliver Margolin, a U.S. Army bandleader, in 1945, and enjoyed traveling with him and her family until they settled in Santa Rosa in 1968. Hella was a spirited member of Temple Beth Ami, where she participated in Hadassah and Jewish Family Services. She was much loved and admired by her grandchildren for her fearlessness, energy, and constant encouragement to enjoy the positive in life and fight against evil. We will love her and honor her presence on this Earth forever.

Raymond Jacob Spitz ended his valiant battle with cancer March 26, 2007, with his family at his bedside. Born February 12, 1932, to Sigmund and Frieda Spitz of Hungary. Raised in the Bronx, New York, he experienced the thrill of seeing Joe Dimaggio and the Yankees. Attended City College of New York before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Served 5 years, reaching the rank of 1st lieutenant and navigator bombardier, traveling the world. He married the love of his life, Shiela, with whom he shared nearly 52 years and raised 3 beautiful children.

Enjoyed a more than 40 year award winning career in sales, where he excelled with his drive, strong work ethic, outgoing personality, and sense of humor. He spent much of his retirement working in the garden, growing vegetables, as well as working on home improvement projects. Music of Neil Diamond, Sarah Brightman & ABBA often radiated throughout the house.

Ray will be truly missed by friends, colleagues, and family. He is survived by his loving wife Shiela, children Gary, Robyn & Mindy, grandchildren Jessica, & Michael, sister Gladys Hanfling, nephews and nieces Scott & Lynn Hanfling, Eric and Candi Hanfling and their children. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the fine doctors at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto and Stanford Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sutter VNA & Hospice.

Margot Stern, nee Weinstein, passed away peacefully in San Mateo on April 13, 2007, at the age of 101. Born in Cologne, Germany, Margot, her husband and daughter moved to Holland and Cuba before arriving in San Francisco in 1941, where she lived until 1990 when she moved to the Peninsula Regent.

Enthusiastic bridge player, stylish shopper, keen traveler and capable homemaker, Margot was the dedicated wife of Max Stern (deceased), mother of Evelyn, sister to Guenter Weinstein and Irma Refish (both deceased), aunt of Gary Weinstein, Joan Weinstein Charkow, and Yvonne Stern Baron, and close cousin to Inge Schloss Lehmann, Gerry and Joan Schloss, and their respective children, Vonnie, Debbie, Jeff, Ron and Bob and their families.

Donations in Margot’s memory preferred to Mission Hospice, San Mateo, and the Assisted Living Unit at the Peninsula Regent, San Mateo.
