Born in New York on December 7, 1921 and a long-time resident of Marin County, she was a WWII veteran, actress, and pioneering union organizer. In later years, she found a passion for writing. She is survived by her sons Mark (Joanie) and Peter (Sherry), sister Hilda, and brother Nathan and was predeceased by her husband, Robert. Graveside services were held last Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, 2500 5th Ave., San Rafael, Garden of Devotion #3. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the City of Hope, American Cancer Society and Hospice by the Bay. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Temkin for 57 years; loving mother of Gloria (and the late Bernard) Brickman and Diane (and Manny) Goldman; adoring grandmother of Mark (and Cynthia) Brickman, Stuart (and Rachael) Brickman, Tami (and Dr. Robert) Osheroff, David (and Young) Goldman, Vicki (and Rabbi Ranon) Teller and Lori (and David) Reddy; dear great-grandmother of Beverlee Nagata, Erika Kelly, Corie, Stephanie and Hayden Brickman, Jillian & Brooke Osheroff, Julia and Louis Goldman, Ariella, Maya, Jake and Nava Teller, and Hannah, Abigail, Rebecca and the late Jordan Reddy; loving sister of the late Herman Pollock. Gertrude was the executive secretary of Congregation Ner Tamid for 35 years. Her family and the synagogue were Gertrude’s great loves. Funeral services were held at Peninsula Temple Sholom, 1655 Sebastian Dr., Burlingame, followed by interment services at Home of Peace Cemetery, Colma.
