Correspondent | July 20, 2007 Sagi Melamed, director of external relations at Tel Hai College in Northern Israel, will be in the Bay Area next week to meet with supporters. Tel Hai is an Israeli partner organization with the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, where Melamed will be on Tuesday, July 24. He will provide the latest reports from Tel Hai, which is located in the Upper Galil, a region of Israel devastated by last summer’s war. With more than 3,500 students, Tel Hai was established in 1996 as part of a national effort to extend educational opportunities to every area of Israel. It is the largest employer in the Upper Galil. Over the years, the federation has funded various programs at the college, including the Center for Teaching Excellence, the Center for Democracy and Peace and student scholarships averaging $100,000 annually.
