Lilly Budak in San Francisco on August 19, 2007. Beloved wife of the late Avram Budak; loving mother of Glenn, Mark and Dr. Morris (& Renee) Budak; devoted grandmother of Alex and Alana Budak; dear sister of the late Alfred Binder. Born in Vienna, Austria she was a Holocaust refugee, spending the WWII years in Shanghi, China when she met her husband Adram. She immigrated to San Francisco in 1947 where Lilly and Avram raised their 3 sons.

Private services were held at Salem Memorial Park, Colma. The family requests contributions to Bay Area Holocaust Oral History Project, P.O. Box 25506, San Mateo, CA 94402-5506. Sinai Memorial Chapel.

Foster, Sidney Edward in Greenbrae on August 17, 2007 at age 86. Beloved husband of the late Sandra Lee Foster for 54 years. Loving father of Craig and Brian Foster. Adoring grandfather of Amanda, Robin and Kevin Foster.

Dr. Foster was a member of the CMA, AMA, SFMS, CALPAC, and National Democratic Finance Counsel. He was a State Insurance Commissioner for the State of California and a Health Insurance Commissioner for San Francisco.

Born May 27, 1921 in Manitoba, Canada. Graduated Stanford in 1944, gaining his MD in 1945. He was politically active all his professional life holding multiple posts in organized medicine and was active in many of the medical reforms that are now appreciated by the population at large today. During his professional career he was honored as recipient of the James C. MacLaggan political action award; Chairman of CALPAC 1987-1989, Speakers Recognition Award from the CMA House of Delegates 1995, and the California Medical Association Young Physicians Section Award as a leader and mentor to young doctors. Dr. Foster was a delegate to the CMA for 18 years. His interests were action committees, family, travel, fishing, snowmobiles, boating and horticulture.

Funeral services were held at Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel, Colma. Donations to CALPAC, preferred.

Helen F Tivol passed away peacefully August 7, 2007. Predeceased by her husband Len and her son Ray, she is survived by her sons David and Bill, and Bill’s wife, Sue. She was to loving grandmother of Thor Tivol (and Anna), Steve Tivol (and Louise Harm), Jane Tivol, Karen Hedges (and Matt), and Brian Tivol (and Marcy), and she adored her three great-grandchildren, Jacob Hedges, Violet Tivol, and Daniel Hedges. She is also remembered as the matriarch of a large extended family and as an active member of several circles of friends.
