Afterparty for young adults

If people want to keep their Israel groove going even after Israel in the Gardens ends, there’s a much easier option than driving to SFO and boarding an El Al flight.

It’s the annual afterparty for people 21 and older at the Metreon’s fourth-floor CityView room. It will begin about 5 p.m. — right after the Idan Raichel Project’s performance closes the festivities at Yerba Buena Gardens — and continue to around 10 p.m.

Organizers from Tzavta, the young adults club of the S.F.-based Israel Center, are inviting people to enjoy views of the sunset from the CityView’s large terrace “with our famous sangria and some great tunes.”

An acoustic set in English by the Israeli psychedelic pop band Eggroll will lead off the music, followed by the mashups of DJ Mei Lwun, a Jewish-Chinese spinmeister who got rave reviews at the 2007 Latke Ball in San Francisco.

Ticket prices ($10 at the door, $5 for Tzvata members) include free alcohol drinks, light appetizers and Israeli snacks. People can shmooze, dance or just chill.

Tzvata’s Maya Oren, the producer of this year’s party, said upward of 650

people showed up last year, and this year’s total could approach 1,000.
