Melodie Batt and Benjamin Rubin were happily married at Black Swan Lake in Calistoga on Aug. 12, 2007, among many family and friends who traveled near and far to join in the celebration. The ceremony was performed by Rabbi Kim Ettlinger and Cantor Barry Reich of Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame. The festivities continued late into the night at Castello di Amorosa.

The bride is the daughter of Linda and A.J. Batt of Hillsborough, and the sister of Rochelle Kushner of Wellesley, Mass. She is the granddaughter of the late Lisa and Myer Batt, and the late Lillian and Mark Mendel. Melodie graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology. Later, she graduated magna cum

laude from FIDM in San Francisco with a degree

in Interior Design. Melodie is the owner of House

of Ruby, a residential interior design firm in

San Francisco.

The groom is the son of Lindy and Dr. Abe Rubin of Wilmette, Ill., and the brother of Adam Rubin of Los Angeles, and Rachel DaPuzzo of Greenwich, Conn. He is the grandson of the late Aaron and Frida Rubin, and the late Jack and Sylvia Greenwall. Ben graduated from the George Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. He received his MBA from the Peter F. Drucker Graduate

School of Management in Claremont. Ben is the Regional Vice President for John

Hancock Annuities.

The bride’s matron of honor was her sister, Rochelle Kushner. Bridesmaids were Jessica Brandwein, Stacy Cherin, Andrea Iraheta, Carla McDermott, Adina Rauchwerger and Kira Shemano, all friends from childhood.

The groom’s best man was his brother, Adam Rubin. Groomsmen were Aaron Davis, Peter Figel, Jordan Gimbel, Armen Minasian, Eric Miller and Scott Whitney.

The couple honeymooned in the Maldives and Bali, and they are celebrating their one-year anniversary in China at the Olympics. They are delighted to be living in San Francisco surrounded by family and friends.
