On Saturday, May 3, 2008, just after sunset and before friends and family, Jessica Dora Brownell, daughter of Kenneth and Louise Brownell of San Mateo, granddaughter of Charlotte Blatteis and the late Samuel Blatteis of Hillsborough, and David Brandwein, son of Elliott and Arlene Brandwein of Sacramento, made it official at the Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco. Cantor and Rabbi Barry Reich of Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame officiated. Angela Blatteis, aunt of the bride, and Ronald Simon, friend of the groom, stood as witnesses.

Maid of honor and sister of the bride, Sarah Brownell, and best friend of the groom and best man, Christian Walkenhorst, joined the happy couple. Bridesmaids were Debra Brandwein, sister of the groom, Melodie Batt Rubin, Laura Hoffman, Andrea Iraheta, Carla McDermott and Kira Sugarman Shemano. Groomsmen were Noah Brownell and Samuel Brownell, brothers of the groom, and Benjamin Brown, Brian McCarthy, Benjamin Shemano and Stephen Ward. Junior bridesmaids were Jacqlyn and Sabrina Blatteis. The ring bearer and flower princess were Hudson Blatteis and Zoe Walkenhorst.

The groom holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Biology and Neuropsychology from U.C. San Diego and is currently the Director of Portfolio Analysis and Finance with Divco West. The bride is a graduate of U.C. Santa Barbara with a degree in Religious Studies and is currently a Senior Financial Analyst at Colliers International. After a relaxing honeymoon at the beach in Cabo, the couple resides in San Francisco.
