Harvey Jerome Amster passed away on August 23, 2008 in Oakland. Harvey was born on September 30, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Krohn, and daughters Heidi and Irene; brother of Alice Kaye, and the late Ellen Lane and Lloyd Amster. Harvey received a B.S. in Physics at California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a fellow scientist at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburg before joining the faculty of the University of California at Berkeley as a professor in the Department of Nuclear Engineering. During retirement Harvey was an avid hiker, and continued his appreciation of classical music, museums and history. He was a member of Temple Beth Sholom in San Leandro. Services were held under the direction of Sinai Memorial Chapel-Lafayette.

Neyde Azevedo, born in Brazil, died in San Francisco, July 14, 2008. Neyde was a long-time dynamic City College instructor of music and anthropology. She was multilingual and a talented sculptress.
