Ida (Shore) Burns passed away on October 15, 2008 in New York City. Born November 3, 1913 in Brooklyn, she was beloved by her family and many friends. She and her late husband, James, lived in Baldwin, NY, and Mountain View, CA before she returned to Manhattan three years ago.

Ida is survived by sons Rob (Lynda) and Douglas (Ellen) of NY, daughter Rhoda (Carl) Grumet of Stanford, 8 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and sister Lillian (Arbie) Bort, of Florida.

Ida was active in Hadassah and a member of Temple Beth Jacob in Redwood City.

Funeral services were held on October 20th at Skylawn Cemetery. Charitable contributions in her memory may be made to Sequoia Chapter of Hadassah c/o Janice Rosen 1200 Patien Drive, Los Altos, CA 94040.

DeWitt Lerch

Passed away on Saturday, October 18 at the age of 88. Born on January 26, 1920 in Livermore, he was the fifth of six sons to the late Simon and Rose Lerch. “Duddie” grew up in Oakland and was a graduate of Oakland High School; a proud World War II veteran, he served abroad in the Mediterranean Theater. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Claire, his son Sherman Lerch and daughter Renee Moshe, his son-in-law Meir Moshe, and his grandchildren Benjamin, Ariel, and Jordan Moshe, and Michelle and Rachel Lerch. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
