Deaths

Philip Epstein, DDS died peacefully in Alamo, CA on December 8, 2008, after a courageous battle with heart disease.

A longtime resident of Oakland, Dr. Epstein was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on February 11, 1932. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 1955. After graduation, he became a captain in the Air Force where he served at Parks Air Force Base in Pleasanton.

Professionally, he practiced dentistry in Oakland for over 20 years. He married his late wife Dorrett Burstein Epstein in 1957. Upon his retirement, Philip spent many hours as a volunteer for the Oakland International Airport, HICAP and Temple Sinai in Oakland.

He is survived by his beloved wife Nadyne Epstein; his children, including Andrew (Michelle), Roxanne (Justin) and Suzanne; stepsons Jeffrey (Marci) and Randy Porter (Deborah) and stepdaughter Lynda Porter Tuvi (Selim), and he was blessed with 13 grandchildren.
