Bella Y. Dalin in Encinitas on May 5, 2009

Predeceased by her husband William Z. Dalin, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Ner Tamid.

Mother of David Dalin and Ralph (and Hedy) Dalin. Grandmother of Aviva (and Amos) Berger, Simona Dalin and Barry Dalin.

Rebbetzin, teacher, mentor and friend.

Funeral services were held at Congregation Ner Tamid with interment at Salem Memorial Park.

Fred Sonenberg passed away May 14 at his Guerneville home, which he shared with his beloved husband of 21 years, Emil Miland. Freddy was born in Los Angeles on 7/17/35, graduated from U.C. Berkeley and took graduate work at Stanford. He is survived by Emil; his former spouse, Lynne Sonenberg; their cherished daughter, Amanda Sonenberg; his brothers, Victor and Daniel, and their families.

Gdeaths fred sonenbergFred was actively involved in progressive causes all his life and marched for civil rights in the ’60s. He was an editor for Architectural & Engineering News in New York, and then returned to the Bay Area, to teach at Peninsula School in Menlo Park and San Francisco State University. He also worked for the S.F. Jewish Welfare Federation, and was the Executive Director for the Palo Alto Jewish Community Center, S.F. School of the Arts Foundation and the Stop AIDS Project, was the Dean of Development S.F. City College. He was on the board of many nonprofit organizations and charities, including Local Independent Charities of America. He’ll be remembered for his devotion to his family, his dry wit, his dedication to his dogs and gardens, and his love of politics, art and food. A celebration of his life will be held in mid-July.
