Alan L. Wendroff

Born in 1931 in San Francisco, Alan loved racing and sailing on the bay. He had a fulfilling career as a professional fundraiser, consultant, teacher and mentor for which he was awarded many honors. Over the years, he was an active volunteer serving on numerous boards including Lowell High School. In addition, he was a photographer, world traveler and enthusiastic student at the Fromm Institute.

He is survived by Lyllian, his beloved wife of forty-two years, and his children Kathy Wendroff and David (Wendy) Wendroff. Also survived by cousins Nanette O’Brien, Lois (Harvey) Kaplow, Carole (Bruce Campbell) Wendroff; sisters-in-law Maurine Waldbaum, Ann Waldbaum, and Miriam (David) Slosky and their families; niece Debbi Waldbaum; godchildren Alex and Noah Schneider; as well as many nieces, nephews and devoted friends.

Alan died on November 7 at the age of 78 after a lengthy illness. Burial took place at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma. Contributions would be welcome at the Fromm Institute for Lifelong Learning c/o the University of San Francisco, 2130 Fulton Street, San Francisco, 94117.
