Although the annual event was mostly calm at U.C. Berkeley, one student did file charges March 5 after a member of Students for Justice in Palestine allegedly assaulted her as she stood with other students during the Path to Peace demonstration at Sproul Plaza.

Later that day, Husam Zakharia, a U.C. Berkeley student, was arrested on battery charges for allegedly ramming the student with a metal cart. Zakharia was transported to the City of Berkeley Police Department jail, said Lt. Alex Yao of Berkeley’s campus police, and released on bail later March 5. The case is being reviewed, the police said.
