For many people, maintaining the ability to drive a car is critical as they age — and to address that issue, the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto is hosting a course in partnership with the California Highway Patrol.
The course is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22. It’s free, but advance registration is required by contacting Rabbi Elisheva Salamo at (650) 223-8618 or [email protected]. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
The class will cover topics such as compensating for age-related changes and the impact of nutrition, fitness and medications on driving ability.
The class is being held at the Oshman Family JCC in partnership with the several traffic and transportation agencies.
In addition, the Palo Alto JCC hosts a Tuesday seminar series with topics that often are of interest to seniors. In the next two meetings, Tuesday, Sept. 21, and Sept. 28, the topic will be “Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec and Rousseau: Famous ‘Outsider’ Modernists.”
The seminars run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and cost $12 for seniors 65-and-older. For others, the cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. For more information, visit www.paloaltojcc.org or contact Salamo.
