Macy Gray, an American R&B and soul singer, has asked her fans on Facebook whether she should cancel two scheduled concerts in Tel Aviv “in protest of Apartheid against the Palestinians.”

“I’m getting alot of letters from activists urging/begging me to boycott by NOT performing,” she wrote in a status update. “What the Israeli government is doing to the Palestinians is disgusting, but I wana go.”

There were more than 1,000 responses by Jan. 19, most urging Gray to stay away from Israel. Others urged Gray to come and see the situation for herself.

Gray is scheduled to perform in Tel Aviv on Feb. 11 and 12. — jta
