Sen. Joe Lieberman, who will celebrate his 69th birthday on Feb. 24, is writing a book on the benefits of the Sabbath.

Lieberman (I-Conn.), who recently announced he will not run again, is co-writing “Gift of Rest” with David Klinghoffer, according to Howard Books.

“In this book, Lieberman will offer the gift of Sabbath observance — a gift that has anchored, ordered and inspired his life — to readers of all faiths,” said a release from Howard Books, a Christian imprint of Simon and Schuster.

The book is slated to be published in August. In 2007, Howard published “An Amazing Adven-ture” by Joe and Hadassah Lieberman, an account of the 2000 election, when, as Al Gore’s running mate, Lieberman was the first Jewish candidate on a major presidential ticket.

Lieberman left the Democratic Party in 2006 when he lost its primary. He regained his Senate seat running as an independent. — jta & ap
