Correspondent | May 6, 2011 L’chaim, indeed: Shmaltz Brewing Company, handcrafters of He’Brew (“The Chosen Beer”) and a new line of Coney Island Craft Lagers, will host an array of Bay Area events to celebrate the release of proprietor Jeremy Cowan’s new small business memoir, “Craft Beer Bar Mitzvah.” The events will lead up to American Craft Beer Week, which runs May 16 to 23. Readings and beer tastings will be held at independent bookstores around the Bay Area: Saturday, May 7 at Omnivore Books (3885 Cesar Chavez in San Francisco), Monday, May 9 at Kepler’s (1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park), Thursday, May 12 at Afikomen Judaica (3042 Claremont Ave. in Berkeley), May 13 at Alexander Book Company (50 Second St. in San Francisco) and May 15 at Dog Eared Books (900 Valencia St. in San Francisco).
