Correspondent | August 19, 2011 A Jewish Food Festival serving up a wide variety of Jewish foods and culture will take place Sunday, Aug. 28, at Congregation Beth Israel in Carmel. The 24th annual event, running from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., offers Jewish specialties including challah, rugelach, blintzes, potato latkes and kugel. Past festivals have drawn several thousand visitors and involved a few hundred volunteers. The festival offers food, dancing, synagogue tours, music, craft booths, auctions and a dramatization of a traditional Jewish wedding. Admission and parking are free. Entertainment will include folk, klezmer and gypsy music as well as Israeli folk dancing. The congregation is located at 5716 Carmel Valley Road. Free shutles will run from Carmel Middle School.
