Correspondent | August 26, 2011 More than 300 people who survived the Holocaust as children met earlier this week in Warsaw — a first for Poland. Delegates came from some 20 countries to the four-day meeting of the 23rd annual conference of the World Federation of Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust, which ended Aug. 23. The conference’s theme was “Remember the past but be happy today.” The conference included religious services and social events as well as lectures, workshops and a tour of Jewish Warsaw. Discussion topics included issues of Jewish identity, Holocaust education, property restitution, and the role of Poland in Jewish history and memory. There was also a ceremony honoring Righteous Gentiles. — jta J. Correspondent Also On J. Politics Jewish philanthropist Daniel Lurie files to run for mayor of S.F.
