Hans L. Levy
Born Feb. 16, 1916 in Halle, Germany, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2011. Preceded in death by his sister, Hilde, he was the devoted husband of Gerty for 66 years, loving father of Ron (Pam) and Bob (Leslie), and adoring grandfather of Scott (Sara), Kim (Greg), Lisa, and Sara.
After fleeing Nazi Germany with his family, he lived in Shanghai, China for nearly 10 years. There he met and married Gerty, who meant the world to him. He made many friends while in China, and this close-knit group remained important to him throughout his life.
He and Gerty arrived in San Francisco in 1947, where he immediately began his ambitious efforts to succeed. In 1951, he and his father-in-law, Herman Bortstieber, established Lion Notions, Inc. His dedication and hard work made the company grow. It gave him great joy when his sons joined the business, and they worked together for over 30 years.
He and Gerty loved to travel and socialize with their many dear friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching his four grandchildren grow up. He led an active life filled with hobbies like boating, skiing, bicycling and tennis. As a young man he rode motorcycles, and throughout his life, he enjoyed driving his cars. He liked to tinker in the garage and was fascinated with gadgets.
He lived life to the fullest each and every day. He was an inspiration to everyone he met, and he will truly be missed.

Judy Rosner
Died peacefully at home on Oct. 4, 2011 surrounded by her loving children, Bob and Marsha. Hers was a life well lived and an inspiration to many.
She was born in Queens, New York on Oct. 23, 1929. Married for 47 years to the love of her life, Marty, they traveled the world until his untimely passing in 1999. Judy made friends everywhere. She particularly enjoyed the time that she spent with her grandchildren. Her genuine interest in people generated a rare ability to connect with all whom she interacted. She loved good conversation, learning, reading, and the arts. Most of all she loved her family and friends. She will be sorely missed. She will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.
