Jewish Vocational Service of San Francisco has received a $100,000 grant from the Hearst Foundations for its program to help young people establish careers in the health care field.
JVS was one of seven nonprofits to share in the grants totaling $580,000. Other grantees include the Portola Family Connections Center, Oakland’s Team Up for Youth, the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts in Richmond, TheatreWorks in Menlo Park, the Children’s Hospital in Madera and the Hanna Boys Center in Sonoma.
The Hearst Foundations comprise two private philanthropies that operate independently from the Hearst Corp., which owns the San Francisco Chronicle.
