The JCC of San Francisco and Jewish Family and Children’s Services of the East Bay are two of the many co-sponsors of the Poetics of Aging conference, a first-time event to be held in San Francisco this month.
The conference, sponsored by the AgeSong Institute with the backing of several national senior agencies, will feature Bay Area poets, artists, architects, singers, actors, filmmakers and scholars — many of them Jewish. There will be more than 90 lectures, workshops, roundtables, theatrical and dance performances, poetry readings and other presentations.
Though the themes of the conference are myriad, the main focus, according to a press release, is exploring “opportunities and benefits of growing older, not in spite of added years, but because of them.”
