Jewish Youth for Community Action, a group for Bay Area high school–age teens that combines leadership training and social justice work, is holding an information session for potential new members from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4 at Congregation Netivot Shalom in Berkeley.

Interested teens will hear about weekend retreats, volunteer opportunities, holiday celebrations and youth-led workshops on issues ranging from LGBT discrimination to homelessness.

Applications will be accepted until Dec. 31. The program will start in January 2012. Fee for the school year is $660 and scholarships are available.
