The S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation has earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, the highest possible ranking bestowed by the popular online charity evaluator.
This reflects a jump over last year, when the federation earned a three-star rating. Charity Navigator evaluates charities based on such metrics as program and administrative expenses, fundraising efficiency and primary revenue growth.
“[Charity Navigator] is the Good Housekeeping seal,” said federation chief operations officer Jim Offel. “They are the best respected, best-known organization that does this kind of work. This carries weight with donors looking for assurance that their dollars are being used in a most beneficial way.”
According to the Charity Navigator website, 1,360 out of more than 5,000 charities evaluated by the organization earned the four-star rating.
