News U.S. Atheists place Hebrew billboard near Hassidic enclave Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | March 9, 2012 An atheist organization put up a Hebrew-language billboard calling God a “myth” near a Brooklyn Hassidic enclave. The group American Atheists unveiled the billboard March 5 in Hassidic-dominated south Williamsburg. The billboard has the name of God written in Hebrew, and then features in English and Hebrew translation the phrase “You know it’s a myth … and you have a choice.” The group put up a similar billboard in Arabic in heavily Muslim Paterson, N.J. that same day. “People are going to be upset,” Dave Silverman, president of American Atheists, told CNN last week. “That is not our concern.” Silverman said the billboards will be up for a month and will cost his group less than $15,000. — jta J.
