Donald Zimring has been named the new head of Brandeis Hillel Day School, the board of trustees ann-ounced March 5. Zimring will assume the position in August, following the departure of current head of school Chaim Heller.
Zimring, 61, is the superintendent of the Las Virgenes Unified School District in Southern California. He received his bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in education administration from U.C. Santa Barbara.
“I have devoted my career to the education of children, and will be honored to continue my life’s work leading an institution rooted in Jewish values, anchored by talented, caring educators, and sustained by a strong board and committed parent community,” he said in a press release announcement.
BHDS has two campuses in San Francisco and San Rafael that serve nearly 600 students.
Daniel Grossman, president of the board of trustees, thanked Heller for “transform[ing] our school over his remarkable 17-year career at BHDS.”
