God vs. Gay author to speak in S.F.

Jay Michaelson, author of “God vs. Gay? The Religious Case for Equality,” will speak at Congregation Sha’ar Zahav in San Francisco on April 20.

An observant Jew and religious scholar, Michaelson argues in his book, published last October, that Torah passages that appear to condemn homosexuality have been misinterpreted. At Sha’ar Zahav, he will discuss his book and other issues of concern to the LGBT community.

The event is being billed as a “unique interfaith Shabbat service and program celebrating” Michaelson’s book. Michael-son will speak from 6 to 6:45 p.m. For information, call (415) 861-6932 or visit www.shaarzahav.org.
