Correspondent | April 20, 2012 The Jewish Coalition for Literacy is seeking reading tutors to work with children in Bay Area public schools for an hour a week. Free tutor-training workshops have been scheduled throughout May for those interested in volunteering. In San Francisco, workshops will be held 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 8 at 131 Steuart St., Suite 201, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. May 22 at Congregation Beth Israel Judea, 625 Brotherhood Way. Peninsula workshops are slated for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 9 at the Peninsula JCC, 800 Foster City Blvd., Foster City, and 2:30 to 5 p.m. May 17 at Avenidas, 500 Bryant St., Palo Also. In the East Bay, a workshop will be held 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. May 6 at the Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay, 300 Grand Ave., Oakland, and 2 to 5 p.m. May 23 at Congregation B’nai Tikvah, 25 Hillcroft Way, Walnut Creek.
