Camperships ease affordability anxiety

Want to send your child to Jewish summer camp but worried about the price tag? Several communal groups offer assistance.

The Foundation for Jewish Camp’s One Happy Camper program (www.onehappycamper.org) offers grants to children entering grades six to eight who do not attend a Jewish day school. The grant,  for children attending their first Jewish summer camp, is not based on financial need.

The S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund (www.sfjcf.org) provides needs-based camperships for children to attend Jewish overnight camp. The Jewish Federation and Jewish Community Foundation of the East Bay (www.jfed.org)  also provides needs-based scholarships.

Jewish Family and Children’s Services offers funds for summer experiences for Jewish youth, including internships. Information: www.jfcs.org
