BGU board positions for Harry, Carol Saal

Carol and Harry Saal

Silicon Valley philanthropists, business leaders and community stalwarts Harry and Carol Saal are new members of a pair of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev boards. Harry Saal was elected last month to the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev board of governors, and his wife, Carol, was appointed vice chair on the university’s international board of governors.

For more than two decades, the Saals have been actively involved with BGU, a major center for teaching and research, and its U.S.-based fundraising arm — American Associates, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. They have supported numerous university projects, such as the Harry and Carol Saal Auditorium on BGU’s main campus in Beersheva, Israel. Also, the Saals are chairing AABGU’s national gala this fall in New York City.

Carol Saal was a four-term national president of AABGU and a governor on the board for many years; in May 2008, she was awarded an honorary doctorate by the university.

The Saals, who live in Palo Alto, launched two high-tech companies, including Network Associates (originally Network General) and each of their biographies includes a long list of business, philanthropic and community leadership positions.
