Purim care-package fundraiser for IDF soldiers launched Facebook Twitter Email SMS WhatsApp Share By J. Correspondent | February 1, 2013 The Bay Area chapter of Friends of the Israel Defense Forces has launched an online fundraising campaign to purchase care packages containing specialty foods and holiday items to be sent to “lone soldiers” in Israel in time for Purim. Lone soldiers are Jews from the diaspora who choose to serve in the Israeli military, though they may have no family in Israel. According to FIDF, every year approximately 2,500 lone soldiers enlist in the Israeli military. FIDF is soliciting donations of double-chai ($36), which purchases one care package.
