Correspondent | February 22, 2013 Birthright Israel co-founder and former Hillel Inter-national president Avraham Infeld will give a talk in Oakland next week on “Building the Jewish People While Repairing the World.” Avraham Infeld With tensions growing between secular and religious Jews, the political right and left, and Israel and diaspora Jewry, Infeld will address those widening rifts within the Jewish people and how to mend them. The event is co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation and Jewish Comm-unity Foundation of the East Bay. Infeld has served with the Reut Institute (a policy group that aims to provide decision support to Israeli leaders and decision-makers) and is the recipient of Hebrew University’s Samuel Rothberg Prize for Jewish Education. The presentation is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Beth Jacob Congregation, 3778 Park Blvd., Oakland.
