Bronfman will be the keynote speaker at the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation’s annual Business Leadership Council breakfast this year. Charles R. Bronfman The event on March 7 will honor John Osterweis with the Business Leadership Award. Osterweis was the chair of the Federation and Endowment Fund’s Investment Committee from 1992 until June 2012, and currently serves on its board of governors. He is also the founder, chairman and chief investment officer of Osterweis Capital Management. The title of this year’s breakfast is “Visionary Leaders Investing in the Future.” John Osterweis Bronfman, 81, had a 50-year career with Seagram’s in Canada and once was principal owner of the Montreal Expos baseball team. He is chairman of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, and is the founder and co-chairman of Birthright Israel. He has had a lifelong commitment to Jewish affairs and philanthropy. The moderator of the event will be Jeffrey Solomon, who co-authored two books with Bronfman: “The Art of Giving, Where the Soul Meets a Business Plan” and the recently published “The Art of Doing Good: Where Passion Meets Action.” The president of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, Solomon also has held many positions in the Jewish community. The always well-attended breakfast is from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. March 7 at the St. Regis Hotel, 125 Third St., S.F.
