For the first time ever, the JCC of San Francisco’s travel program is heading to China. The 10-day trip, scheduled for Sept. 19-29, still has some available slots.

The trip is billed as “Classical Highlights of China: A Jewish Perspective” and will begin with a welcome Shabbat dinner in Beijing. In the days that follow, guides will reveal the country’s history through insider access to art, architecture, culture and cuisine. Cities on the itinerary include Xian, Shanghai and Kaifeng, where a small community of Jews has lived for centuries and maintained its customs and traditions.

The cost of the trip is $4,950 per person with a $1,530 single supplement. For an additional cost, travelers can do a pre-trip extension to Chengde, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Sept. 16-19. For more information, call Ariel Goldstein, the JCCSF travel program manager, at (415) 276-1506 or email [email protected].
