Berkeley author Michael Chabon will receive a Jewish Cultural Achievement Award from the Foundation for Jewish Culture in New York. Chabon, whose novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay” won the 2001 the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, will be honored at a gala on June 10. The other Jewish Cultural Achievement Award winners are philanthropist and film producer Scott Berrie, the Lower East Side dining institution Russ & Daughters, historian Deborah Dash Moore, and Bard College president and orchestra conductor Leon Botstein. Past Jewish Cultural Achievement Award honorees include Elie Wiesel, Maurice Sendak, Tony Kushner, Chaim Potok, Itzhak Perlman and Grace Paley, among many others.
