The klezmer trio Veretski Pass will play a series of performances with San Francisco Choral Artists. The concerts, called “Omens, Dreams and Curses,” will take place June 15, 16 and 23 at three Bay Area locations.
The program, described as a “journey into Jewish superstitions,” includes 19th-century psalm settings, lullabies and folk music sung in English, Hebrew, Ladino and Yiddish. Also included will be world premieres of pieces by Joshua Horowitz of Veretski Pass, Mark Winges and Eleanor Aversa. Each concert includes a 30-minute pre-show talk with performers and composers. San Francisco Choral Artists is a 24-voice, mostly a capella, chamber ensemble.
Concerts are scheduled for 8 p.m. June 15 at Saint Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, 500 De Haro St., S.F.; 4 p.m. June 16 at Congregation Beth Jacob, 1550 Alameda de las Pulgas, Redwood City; and 4 p.m. June 23 at Temple Sinai, 2808 Summit St., Oakland.
