Correspondent | August 9, 2013 The Nigunim Chorus, which sings and performs folk songs in Hebrew and Yiddish, is preparing for its third annual weekend retreat. The Aug. 23-25 event will include sessions taught by cantor Linda Hirschhorn, drumming lessons by Jan Padover, and dance and choreography classes led by Bruce Bierman. Achi Ben Shalom, chorus founder, will teach Jewish and Israeli folk songs, and two programs of concerts and singing will be held around the campfire. Cost of the weekend, which will be held at the River’s Bend Retreat Center near Philo in Mendocino County, ranges from $290 to $350 and includes two nights lodging and six meals.
