The Peninsula Jewish Community Center has partnered with Kevah, the Berkeley-based Jewish study network, to form learning groups that will study the topic of food justice.

Interested families will come together for six sessions of discussion about food, hunger and social justice. Guided by an experienced Jewish educator from Kevah and some texts, families will explore questions such as “How do we balance enjoying great food while recognizing that people — even here in our own community — go to bed hungry every night?” and “How do we help our children bring mindfulness and gratitude to every meal?”

The groups will be forming in late September or early October and are part of “Grow Justice: Fight Hunger,” a joint project of the PJCC and Kevah. No previous experience is necessary.

The groups are open to families with kids ages 4 through 12, and the fee is $60 per family. For more information, to start a group or to join an existing one, contact Lea Policoff at (650) 378-2778 or [email protected].
