Ruth Bader Ginsburg became the first Supreme Court justice to preside over a same-sex wedding.
Ginsburg performed the ceremony for Michael Kaiser and John Roberts at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Aug. 31, with about 200 guests in attendance.
Kaiser, the president of the center, reportedly is a longtime friend of Ginsburg, who is Jewish.
Two months ago Ginsburg, 80, joined in a Supreme Court decision requiring the federal government to recognize gay marriage, including providing federal benefits.
Same-sex marriages are now legal in 13 states and the District of Columbia. — jta
