The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life in Berkeley will receive an award at the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation’s fall gala in San Francisco on Sept. 27.

The Magnes will be presented with the foundation’s Immigrant Heritage Award for its “exemplary model of heritage research collections” and its “remarkably diverse archives” that track the migration of Jews from around the world to the American West.

The fundraising dinner and gala, “Immigrant Dreams/Hero Voices,” will begin at 6 p.m. at the Westin St. Francis; tickets start at $250. Director and actress Joan Chen is the honorary co-chair, and longtime Bay Area broadcast journalist Jan Yanehiro will be the emcee. For more information, visit www.aiisf.org.
