More than 100 toddlers, parents and alumni of all ages turned out for a playgroup and party Sept. 29 celebrating the 30th anniversary of Kindergym Playdays with Dawn at Temple Beth Abraham in Oakland.

Play on, children

The longest-running, non-franchise kindergym play class in the East Bay is

run by Dawn Margolin, who received

the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education in 2006.  The class for children under 3 is held in the temple social hall and open to all families, Jewish and non-Jewish.

Dawn Margolin blows bubbles.

Margolin describes the program as a “collaborative effort of so many people who have come together throughout these 30 years and supported each other in very diverse ways.” She adds an element of tikkun olam on Fridays, when families bring coins to donate to the Alameda County Food Bank as part of a musical Shabbat circle.

Classes are ongoing. For more information or to register go to www.tbaoaland.org/kindergym.
