Free 30-minute consultations with elder law attorney Janice Sternfeld are available on the first Thursday of each month at Jewish Family and Children’s Services in Sonoma County.
Consultations for seniors or their family members can cover such topics as advance health care directives, planning for incapacity, conservatorships, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate, special needs trusts, and Medi-Cal and veterans’ benefits.
Consultations are held between 10 a.m. and noon and take place at JFCS, 1360 N. Dutton Ave., Suite C, Santa Rosa. The next round of appointments will be on Nov. 7. To schedule an appointment call (707) 571-8533 or email [email protected].
In addition to providing free legal consultations in Santa Rosa, JFCS’ Seniors At Home program provides a host of free services to older adults throughout the Bay Area. These include companionship and support from weekly visits by volunteers; transportation to the doctor, grocery store or elsewhere by volunteer drivers; and Safe at Home “telephone reassurance callers.”
Volunteers are needed for all programs, and hours are flexible. For information or to sign up for these and other such programs, go to www.jfcs.org and click on the region closest to your home, or call your local JFCS office. JFCS serves Sonoma, Marin, San Francisco, and the Peninsula.
