Two local synagogues soon will hold holiday fairs featuring dozens of local artisans and craftspeople.

First up: Temple Israel in Alameda will host a Harvest Fair with 50 vendors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27.

Promoted as a “holiday shopping expo,” the free event will feature craftspeople such as Stephanie Lipow, who with her husband and daughter makes handcrafted wooden dreidels like her mom used to make and sell in Berkeley.

There also will be Judaica, local honey and jams, fused glass, 3-D prints and more. Local businesses will be represented, and outdoor activities will include Israeli dancing, face painting and a pumpkin patch. Nosh options include cafés operated by Alameda’s Levy’s Bagels and the Waterfront Deli, and bake sale goodies.

The Alameda fair will be held at Temple Israel, 3183 Mecartney Road, and the adjacent Community Center of Harbor Bay Isle at 3195 Mecartney Road. For information, go to www.templeisraelalameda.org or call (510) 522-9355.

On Nov. 3, Fremont’s Temple Beth Torah will hold its annual Hanukkah Gift Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items for sale will include handcrafted jewelry, handmade clothing and scarves, artwork and Judaica. Lunch and snack foods include homemade potato latkes, hot dogs and baked goods.
