The Jewish Music Festival will launch a series of intimate concerts by Bay Area performers, with each show staged in a private home. The series kicks off Saturday, Nov. 23 with a performance of Balkan and Middle Eastern music by singer and oud player Rachel Valfer and members of the Qadim Ensemble.

The series continues through next spring, with a Jan. 11 concert by Ladino singer Kat Parra; a Feb. 22 vocal performance by Congregation B’nai Tikvah Cantor Jennie Chabon and Coastside Jewish Community service leader Julie Batz; and a May 3 show by Napa-based singer Stephen Saxon and guitarist Gordon Lustig.

Each concert is set in one of three private homes in Berkeley, with up to 40 seats available per show. Tickets are $18, and refreshments are served. For information, call (510) 848-0237 ext. 118.
