“The Prime Minister’s Children,” a series broadcast on Israel’s HOT cable TV, has been sold to the U.S. network CW.

The American version of the show will be produced by Sarah Timberman of Timberman/Beverly Productions, which is responsible for the drama series “Masters of Sex,” among other programs. The script will be written by former “Gossip Girl” and “Grey’s Anatomy” writer Natalie Krinsky, whose parents are Israeli.

“The Prime Minister’s Children” was created by Shahar Magen and Noa Rothman, the granddaughter of slain Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The series went on the air in May 2012, and returned for its second season a year later.

The show follows the fictional family of the prime minister, his wife and two children as their lives change upon entering his official residence in Jerusalem.

Timberman said in a press release that the series investigates the challenges and complexities of being part of the “first family” in an open-hearted way, and that she viewed this as an opportunity to ask the same questions in the context of the U.S. presidency.

HOT drama director Mirit Tuvi said the series has “huge potential abroad. The fact that the series deals with the tension between private and public, focusing on people who are busy with their small life at one moment and make fateful decisions the next moment — all this can work excellently anywhere.” — ynetnews.com
