The long list of talent shows broadcast in the United States will be joined next year by an American version of the hit Israeli singing competition “Rising Star.”
ABC announced that it has purchased the Israeli format of the live reality show, which allows the audience at home to serve as judges of the ongoing competition. According to the “Rising Star” format, viewers at home serve as judges through a real-time app, and participate in the live voting through the entire season.
ABC has ordered 10 episodes of the show, which it is planning to run next summer.
The “Rising Star” format also has been sold to Russia’s Rossiya 1 channel, Germany’s RTL, the Nordisk Film TV, and France’s M6 TV channel. — ynetnews.com
