Israeli singer David Broza will be in San Rafael on Jan. 17 for an “intimate chat” at the Osher Marin JCC.

A megastar in the Jewish state with an international following, Broza will discuss his life and career and sing a few acoustic songs from his new CD, “East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem,” at the free event.

The 58-year-old singer, songwriter and guitar player is also a peace activist, especially concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His new CD brings together Israeli, Palestinian and American musicians, including Haitian American rapper Wyclef Jean, the Palestinian rapper duo G-Town and Israeli Arab singer Mira Awad. The album was recorded in Jerusalem and co-produced by American singer-songwriter Steve Earle.

Broza will sign and sell CDs following his 3:30 p.m. appearance, which is open to the public. The JCC is located at 200 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael. Pre-register at www.marinjcc.org.
