Correspondent | May 9, 2014 Barbara and Harold Boren Harold Boren, then known as Harry Borenstein, grew up in Portland, Ore. Barbara Bennett was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and grew up in Bridgeport, Conn. In 1940, Harold and his mother followed his siblings east and he met “Bobbie” just before her high school graduation. Barbara and Harold were married in 1944 when Hal returned from serving in North Africa, Italy and England. They raised two daughters in Pawtucket, R.I., and Ridgefield, N.J. They are loved and admired by their children, Bonnie Boren and Phil Weil of Santa Rosa, Lesley Reich of Hurley, N.Y., grandson Ryan Reich of Brooklyn, granddaughter Chelsea Reich of Pittsfield, Mass., and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
