Wiesenthal play to premiere in NYC

A one-man play about famed Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal will make its New York premiere in the fall.

Tom Dugan, who wrote and stars in “Wiesenthal,” will present the play from Oct. 24 to Feb. 1 at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row. Jenny Sullivan will direct.

Wiesenthal was a Holocaust survivor who helped track down Nazi war criminals following World War II and then spent the later decades of his life fighting anti-Semitism and prejudice against all people. He estimated he helped bring some 1,100 Nazi war criminals to justice.

The play, which has been seen across the country, will be produced by Tony Award-winner Daryl Roth and Karyl Lynn Burns. It portrays the aging Wiesenthal as he welcomes his final group of students to the Jewish Documentation Center in Vienna, Austria. — ap
